  • How do I take care of my extensions?
Maintenance: Once your new hair is installed you will return to the salon for your "move up" appointment in 6 weeks. At this appointment we will reopen the copper micro link slide the bead up along with the hair extension and recluse the bead. SLIPPAGE: Extension slippage is completely normal, while we don't expect that to occur it is totally normal. If this does happen feel free to give us a call and we will be more than happy to put them back in for you. The slippage can be due to too much oil on your scalp or hair product you are using. BRUSH: The brush you use is very important as it could cause you to pull the extension out or cause breakage of your own hair. We recommend and sell in the salon a brush that is specifically for extension that is free from the little knobs on the ends of the bristles. Any brush that has the knobs at the ends of the bristles is not recommended. When you brush your hair, we recommend you starting from the bottom of the hair and working your way up, by holding your hair in one hand and brushing helps to minimize the pulling of the extensions and causes less tension on your natural hair. Gently brush through the beads once a day to ensure no knotting or twisting occurs. Always brush your hair before you shower and before bed. SLEEP: Never go to bed with wet hair. We recommend putting your hair in a loose pony on top of your head to sleep. A silk pillow case will help hair from matting and keep hair smoother. SALT & POOL WATER: Before getting in the pool or ocean, brush your hair, use oil or a recommended leave on conditioner, pull your hair in to a loose braid while in the water. Once your out of the water, wash your hair as soon as possible, use extra conditioner and reuse your oil. Always remember to brush your hair. When on a boat, jet ski or motorcycle ALWAYS put your hair in a tight braid or ponytail. WASH: Wash your hair 1-2 times a week using only a recommended shampoo and conditioner from JM Salon. Making sure to rub your scalp to loosen and oils or product buildup. You only need to shampoo your extensions once a week but make sure to condition them every time. Follow up with brushing and oil. STYLING: You can style your extensions just as you would your own hair, while we do recommend you letting it air dry to its natural state, its is completely ok to blow-dry and style as you choose. Keep in mind that while you can use heat on your hair extensions we recommend you use a very low heat setting as to not cause breakage and damage. If you choose to blow out your hair with round brush, use it very gently as the pulling can causes tensions and breakage overtime. Always use your oil and a heat protectant spray.
  • What products should I use on my hair extensions?
Were so glad you asked. 1. First you only want to use a shampoo and conditioner recommended by JM Salon. These products will be free of any sulfates, parabens, or silicons. 2. We recommend that you use a specific oil on the ends and mids of your hair extensions daily, making sure to keep the oil away from your roots. Oil can be purchased at JM Salon. 3. While it is ok to use hairspray, its best that you try and minimize the use of any harsh hairspray.
